Bacopa Salzmannii purple SG

Overview: Native to Central and South America, Bacopa Salzmannii is a popular aquatic plant. There are different varieties of Bacopa, among which Bacopa Salzmannii and Bacopa Carolina are the most popular. Usually, these species are found in marshland or the banks of rivers. Bacopa Salzmannii is available in different variants based on their color range from green, red, and purple. Among the purple variants, this plant can be found in a light tinge of purple to deep purple. Due to its striking color and low height, it can be grown as a midground or foreground plant. Moreover, it can also be positioned as the central display in the aquariums. 

Appearance: As the name indicates, this is a purple variant of Bacopa where the leaves have tinges of pink and purple, developing into deep purple under right water conditions. The plant doesn’t grow tall (25-30 cm) ; therefore, it is suitable for use as a mid-ground aquatic plant or for central display. The unique color (pinkish-purple) of the leaves makes Bacopa Salzmannii look extremely beautiful among other green plants, developing stunning contrast. 

Hard/Soft Plant: Bacopa Salzmannii purple SG is a hardy plant that can survive well under diverse water conditions; however, keeping the parameters under range will ensure good growth.  

Ideal water temperature: The temperature should remain between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius for Bacopa Salzmannii purple SG to thrive well in the aquariums.

Lightening Conditions: Bacopa Salzmannii purple SG should be kept in a well-lit condition to develop the desired color (deep purple) and show the best growth. 

Ideal pH level: The optimal pH can range between 6 and 7.

Other requirements: Additional carbon dioxide, as well as a fertilizer-rich substrate, will promote a brighter purple tone right from the stems. This plant does well under soft water conditions. 

Propagation: Bacopa salzmannii purple SG can be propagated through cutting. It is advised to cut the stem above the internode and plant the top 2-3 inches portion. Over time, when the water parameters are suitable, the plant will develop side shoots and start growing as an individual plant.
