Overview: Albino Koi Guppy is one of the unique varieties from Poecilia reticulate. The unusual and vibrant colors make it a distinctive guppy variety developed after years of careful selection and breeding. The exciting red-orange coloration on the tail fin, dorsal fin, and face makes it look highly attractive. The body color varies from light yellow to pearlescent white, which has given it its unique ‘albino’ name. Due to its distinct colors and easy-to-maintain feature, Albino Koi Guppy is one of the favorites of aquarium enthusiasts. It is a peaceful fish with fewer demands. Albino Koi Guppy, just like other guppies, did not take much time to acclimatize to wide water parameters and enjoy life in its closed water ecosystem. When provided with suitable water parameters, Albino Koi Guppy thrives.

Distribution and Habitat: Although Albino Koi Guppy is a result of selection and breeding, it is indigenous to North America. Most of the Guppy varieties that are today under commercial aquarium keeping are a result of selective breeding. Talking about habitat, guppies live to stay in the upper layers of the water. They are not bottom dwellers, so you can find them free-floating around the top layers of the tank. Most guppies jump while swimming; therefore, covering the tank with a lid is recommended.

Temperature: The most suitable temperature range for Albino Koi Guppy is from 19 to 29 degrees Celsius. Guppies, by nature, are hardy. So, they will tolerate the minor fluctuation in temperature. Even though guppies can adjust, it is advised to maintain a proper temperature range, so the fish does not come under stress. Proper temperature conditions facilitate breeding and growth.

Water conditions: Albino Koi Guppy performs well when the water pH is between 7 to 8 and water hardness is 10° to 20° dGH. Tank size should not be smaller than 10 gallons. Since guppies are peaceful, they stay happy when kept with fish with a similar temperament. They are hardy and perfect for beginners.

Breeding: Guppies are livebearers, and Albino Koi Guppy is no exception. It means that the fry will come out free swimming in the water during birth. One guppy produces around 10-60 fry at a time. If there are fish that eats the little ones, it is advised to move the fry to a breeding tank. Guppies are the easiest to breed; even beginners can try them.

Feeding: Albino Koi Guppy is an omnivorous fish, so there are a lot of options for feeding. Aquarists can give them meaty foods and plant-based foods. Keeping a variety of foods will ensure that they get all the nutrition for healthy growth. Some of the best foods for guppies include- fish flakes, fish pellets, vegetables, freeze-dried bloodworms, etc.

Lifespan: On average, the lifespan of Albino Koi Guppy is 1-2 years. Providing them with proper food and water conditions will help them remain healthy and stress-free, increasing their lifespan by another year.

Do you know: Albino Koi Guppy got its name from the pale yellow body color that looks like it has albinism.
